Counselor's Message

My name is Jamie Jackson, and I am proud to be serving as your school counselor. My number one priority is to help students and families have a successful and productive school year. Some of the services I provide are:

1. Classroom Lessons- I visit every classroom for a lesson every other week. I like to have a lot of fun in my classes, and we will do a lot of interactive and hands on learning. Some of the topics I often cover are conflict management skills, friendship skills, coping with feelings, safety, getting ready for junior high, and many more. In a nutshell, if it will help the kids get along better and be successful, I'm for it.

2. Community Referrals- If you should ever find a need for connections within the community, I am here to help. I often provide referral information for outside counseling services, as well as referrals to various agencies that are ready to help in a time of need.

3. Individual counselor visits- Sometimes students need a little extra help to get through their school day. Whether it is a bout of homesickness, or a conflict between friends, I am here to help. These issues can often be solved in a short time, and your student can get back to class with renewed focus and calmer feelings. Students can visit with me through self referral, teacher referral, or a parent request.

4.  Building Test Coordinator- I coordinate state testing for the school in the Spring. I will need lots of help with test proctor volunteers at that time if you are interested!
