Student Recognition Programs

Student achievement in all areas of academics as well as the fundamental foundations of citizenship is recognized in a number of ways throughout the year. Below outlines the recognition programs at Timber Creek Elementary.

Titan Tip Off Recognitions

Scheduled once or twice a month

We also want to hear about your students’ success outside of the school day. We welcome your news through email or phone calls, which may be shared at the next Titan Tip Off.

Rockin Readers

(monthly—recognition will be done at Titan Tip Off)

As students master their sight word lists in Pre K, KDG, First, and Third Grade their names will be called at the Titan Tip Off.

Pre K Students that know both Upper and Lower case letters

KDG Mastered their Sight Word List (52 Words)—Rainbow Words

1^st Graders that Mastered their Sight Word List (200 Words)

2^nd  Graders that Mastered their Sight Word List (300 Words) and 100 Phrases

Principal’s 200 Club

Students are recognized for doing the right thing when they think no one is watching them, they are given a ticket to bring to the office, parents are called to share the great news, the student’s ticket is posted on a bulletin board in the cafeteria and the students name is announced on the morning announcements.

Lexia Learning

As Students master each Level in the program their name will be announced on the morning announcements.

Citizen of the Month

(monthly—recognition will be done at Titan Tip Off)

Students selected monthly based on the following character traits:

·         Positive change in the area of academics – improved grades; improved assignment completion across contents, etc

·         Positive change in the area of attendance – improved punctuality to school and class; improved daily attendance, etc.

·         Character contribution – student exhibits a particular strength in trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, or citizenship

·         School spirit- student exhibits school spirit in exceptional ways

·         Given to students monthly as selected by the TC Staff

Quarterly Awards

Honor Code

Grade Level Party held at the end of each quarter

Principal’s Citizenship Honor Code: Everyone’s name will be included on this roll at the beginning of each Quarter.  Any time a student earns 10 marks into the discipline log, is placed in ISR or Suspended, his or her name will be removed.  Honor Code students will be invited to participate in a social activity at the end of each nine weeks (pizza party, ice cream party, movie and popcorn, etc).   Additional appropriate rewards may be given to students by teachers at their discretion.

End of Year Awards Program

These will be scheduled and held by the teachers on each grade level

Math Master

Students that master their math facts will be recognized as follows:

·         KDG 0-5 Addition Facts

·         1^st 0-10 Addition Facts

·         2^nd 0-18 Subtraction Facts

·         3^rd 0-12 Multiplication Facts

AR Award

1^st-6^th Grade Students that meet their goal for all 4 nine weeks with an 85% accuracy score will be recognized

Above & Beyond

AR Award

1^st- 6^th Graders that meet and exceed their AR Goal for all 4 nine weeks and exceed that goal by 10% with an 85% accuracy will be recognized.

Spelling Bee

Participants and Winners will be recognized

Science Fair

1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd Place Winners and Honorable Mentions will be recognized

Lexia

Grades PreK-6; Students will be recognized for completing 2 or more levels in the program.

STAR

Grades K-6; Students that make the most gains will be recognized

Principal’s Honor Roll

Given each semester to all 4^th-6^th students that do not have any grades lower than an “A”, “B”, or “S”.

Superintendents Honor Roll

Given each semester to all 4^th -6^th students that do not have any grades lower than an “A” or “S” for the Semester Grades.

Outstanding PE Student

Grades 1-6; Given to students that show sportsmanship, are cooperative and respectful, an active leader and participant in class activities & enthusiastic about PE.

Fitness Test Awards

Grades 3-6; Given to students for Presidential Fitness Testing

Outstanding Music Student

Grades 1-6; Given to students that demonstrate consistent musical growth, positive and enthusiastic attitude, respect for others and consistent effort.

Perseverance Award

Grades PreK-6; (1 or 2 per homeroom): This student goes above and beyond to achieve academically. 

They have demonstrated an outstanding attitude, effort and participation in the subject area.

They show extra effort and have persevered with their academics to be a successful even if school work is a challenge. 

Classroom Achievement

Grades 2-6; Subject area recognition (1 or 2 per homeroom):  These awards are given to students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, attitude, effort and participation in the subject area.  Students recognized do not necessarily have to have obtained the highest grade in the particular subject area.

Overall Grade Level Achievement

Grades 4-6; Subject area recognition (1 or 2 per grade level):  These awards are given to students over all students in the grade level who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, attitude, effort and participation in the subject area.  Students recognized do not necessarily have to have obtained the highest grade in the particular subject area.

Scholarship Award

Grades PreK-6 (one boy and one girl); This student goes above and beyond to achieve academically.  This student shows extra effort with regard to academics. This student completes all work, is prepared for class, meets and exceeds the standards of learning.  Excellent quality of work.

Citizenship Award

Grades PreK-6 (one boy and one girl); This student supports and follows the school procedures and practices.  They are respectful of rules, property and other students.  They use good manners and judgment.  They exhibit a positive attitude.

Leadership Award

Grades PreK-6 (one boy and one girl); This student involves others in class in a positive way.  They set a positive example for others, take initiative in and outside of class and contributes to our community of learners.

Masonic Award

Sixth Grade Boy and Girl—Highest Honor

This student embodies all of the qualities of those described within the Citizenship, Scholarship and Leadership Award.
